Tools and Materials

Before you begin any project it is important to make sure you have the tools necessary to complete the project in an efficient and timely manner. This applies especially when you are installing slides. Without the proper tools it is very likely that you may waste much of your valuable time or simply make an error that could end up costing you money as well as time. Below is a list of tools you may need depending on what type of slide you are installing. The list is not exhaustive, but with these tools you should be able to handle almost any installation.

  • Tape Measure/Ruler – As with any project, correct measurement is a must.
  • Level
  • Mallet
  • Pencil
  • Slides – For help picking the best slides for your project, simply consult our “Slide Types” and “Slide Finishes” pages to find the slides that will not only function properly but will look great too.
  • Fine Tooth Hack Saw – Occasionally with odd drawer depths it will be necessary to trim up certain types of drawer slides.
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Jig – A drawer slide mounting tool for leveling, not necessary, but it will make the job much easier.
